A real person answers, day or night

Burst Pipe or Flooding Right Now?

Smell gas? Move first, call second.

Get everyone outside and leave the switches alone; that part can't wait. Then call us, because with gas every minute counts and you shouldn't be guessing.

Call now, from outside the house.

Ring (02) 9138 6505 from the footpath. A licensed plumber answers, not an answering machine.

What Counts as an Emergency, and What Can Wait

Some of these need us out the door immediately; some can wait for a civilised hour. This is the quick version, with a table underneath for when you're mid-panic.

This One's Now

A pipe spraying, a gas smell in the air, sewage rising indoors, or a ceiling holding water. Reach for the phone, not a bucket.

We'll Come Today

No hot water, a cistern that won't quit, a leak you've contained but not cured. Pressing, not perilous, and we'll fit you in.

This Can Wait

A slow drip, a gurgling floor waste, a tap you can throttle. Book it in and rest easy; daylight is fine for these.

ProblemSignsDo this nowResponse
Leaking hot water systemWater pooling around the unit, rust marks on the tank, or a relief valve that runs non-stop instead of the odd dripShut the cold water isolation valve at the unit and turn it off at the board or at its gas tap. Keep children well clear; the water coming out is hotCall now. A leaking tank tends to get worse, not better, so we book these as a priority
Hidden leak or ceiling bulgeA sagging or stained ceiling, damp carpet, a meter spinning with taps offNever pierce a bulging ceiling. Water off at the meter if it's spreadingBulging ceilings are urgent. Slow damp books a same-day look
Tap won't turn offA handle that spins without biting, a tap running at full flow no matter what you do, or a handle that's seized solidDon't force the handle harder; spindles snap. Close the fixture's isolation valve if it has one, otherwise turn the water off at the meter and catch what you canCall now. A tap you can't shut off is an emergency, and we slot it in as one

Home Turf: Kensington and Five Suburbs Around It

This is home turf, the streets we run most weeks, so a call here reaches a plumber who already knows the streets. The wider Randwick City Council patch is covered on the same terms, one team and one fixed quote per job.

Local knowledge that matters

Common Plumbing Emergencies in Kensington

After midnight, the call that comes up again and again is a sewer main that's surcharged. In the older streets around Doncaster Avenue, tree roots have been working into cracked earthenware for decades, and eventually the whole line backs up.

The housing tells the story. A Federation and California-bungalow core sits under a heavy layer of flats, and with roughly seven in ten homes being units, one blockage or burst can hit a lot of people at once.

A few patterns we see over and over:

  • Old sewer mains backing up after hours in the pre-war blocks.
  • Flexi-hose connectors letting go under the vanities and cupboards of all those flats.
  • A jump in callouts each term, as the student rentals near UNSW turn over.

Our Process: Four Steps, No Drama

First priority on the phone: keeping you safe. Gas smells, rising water near power, sewage inside. We tell you what to do immediately.

First priority on-site: making it safe. We isolate the water, the gas or both before anything else, so the danger is contained.

Then we quote the fix, fixed. One price for the proper repair, explained plainly and approved by you before work starts.

We repair and we verify. Pressure checked, leaks proven stopped, everything left safe before we leave your home.

Four steps, no rush and no theatrics, because a 2am emergency is dramatic enough without us adding to it.

Why Neighbours Choose Us at 2am

This is a renting suburb, students and young renters in flats outnumbering owner-occupiers in houses.

Whoever's calling, tenant or owner, we turn up and fix it properly. If it's not right, we come back, no questions, no cost.

Fair, upfront pricing — no surprises

No Overtime Rates, No Guessing Games

"Fixed price" gets thrown around, so here's what we mean by it. Quoted before work starts.

Unchanged by how long the job takes. Unchanged by the hour of night.

Unchanged by the second trip to the van.

The price we quote is the price you pay. No exceptions.

If we misjudge a job, we wear the difference, because that's what fixed is supposed to mean.

Kensington's Housing, and What It Means for Your Pipes

The pre-1940 houses here were plumbed in galvanised steel, and after this many decades it corrodes from the inside, dropping pressure and eventually splitting. The earthenware sewer under them cracks on much the same timeline.

There's a second factor most suburbs don't have: the ground. Kensington sits on the old Lachlan swamp lowlands over the Botany Sands, so the water table is shallow, which complicates every below-ground repair and can surcharge drains in a heavy storm.

Stack seven-in-ten homes as flats on top of that, and one burst flexi-hose upstairs becomes three ruined ceilings below.

1000+ Five-Star Reviews From Sydney Homes

1000+ five-star reviews

Real jobs, real homes, re-told with permission. Names are first names only.

Behind that number are a thousand ordinary nights that went sideways and got sorted. 1000+ five-star reviews, and the theme barely changes.
People write about someone who arrived and got straight to work, a price locked in before anything happened, and a home handed back dry. We just try to earn the next one.

In the community, for the community

The Team That Turns Up, Day or Night

We're a small, family-run team that works these streets in person, not a call centre with a map. Kensington is a busy student and arts pocket anchored by UNSW and NIDA, where Federation streets run straight into apartment towers along Anzac Parade.

You get the same plumbers each time, the ones who know which blocks share a sewer line and which flats hide their stop-taps.

Same faces, same standards, in the community, for the community. The about page fills in the rest.

Good questions, straight answers

After-Hours Plumbing FAQs

Here are the ones that come up on nearly every call, answered plainly. If we haven't covered yours, put it to us on the phone.

How much does an emergency plumber cost in Kensington?

It depends on the job, but two things hold at any hour: there's no call-out fee, and you approve a written figure up front. No hourly surprises, no after-hours premium.

How fast can you get to Kensington?

Quickly, though it comes down to which van is nearest when you ring. We're on-site fast on most nights; what we won't do is promise a clock time we can't honour.

What should I do while I wait for the plumber?

For a leak or burst, shut the water off at the meter out front and lift anything valuable clear. For gas, get everyone outside and call from there. The rest is on us once we arrive.

Can I check your licence and insurance?

Absolutely. The work runs under NSW Plumbing Licence #275278C, and we're fully insured, both easy to confirm before we start. A plumber who won't show either isn't one to let inside.

Why do older Kensington homes have more plumbing emergencies?

Age, mostly. The pre-1940 houses still run their first-generation steel supply and clay sewers, and both give out as they pass a century. Add heavy tenant turnover in the flats and small faults get ignored until they're big ones.

Is after-hours work priced differently?

No. There's no overtime loading and no weekend premium; a 2am job is quoted exactly like a midday one. You approve the price before we lift a tool.
